Back to Wangford today to the churchyard and finally the Knapweed (Centaurea nigra) is in flower a sign that Summer is finally here. Knapweed is a perennial herb and a favorite of bees and butterflies being an excellent source of pollen. Later in the year they will provide birds like Goldfinches with valuable seeds.
Heavy Horse sketch at Norfolk Show
I have spent the day sketching mostly the Heavy horses at the Norfolk Show which started today and finishes tomorrow.
This sketch is of a Shire Horse being judged in the ring with it’s beautiful tail ring and mane flights so beautifully prepared.
Life on a Busy Sea sketch
As I walked along Kessingland beach I realised you see all sorts of boats/vessels. Today an inshore fishing boat close to the beach with a tanker and a sailing yacht out at sea.
Wangford Marshes sketch
On the southern side of Wangford is the River Wang and it’s adjacent meadows known as Priory Marshes where this is sketched.
I am approaching half way through this challenge (next Friday) so I am asking for suggestions on what you would like me to sketch. Please always feel free to comment either on my Facebook, Twitter or this post.
So tonight at the end of Open studios and with rain in the air a drive to Covehithe to sketch the pigs and piglets in the fields through a gateway.
